Course Summary – AIA Continuing Education System

Description:
This is a wedi class within the AIA Continuing Education program that includes: Moisture related problems, from both installation issues and natural causes, are the leading source of tile application failures. This course will focus on using Cement Coated XPS to completely manage that moisture, while also offering a high performing tile substrate. Some of the major areas of emphasis will include shower floors and walls for both residential and commercial applications.
Learning Objectives:
- The characteristics of Extruded Polystyrene Foam (XPS) and its uses in tile applications.
- The types of products that can be produced with Cement Coated XPS, and how these products create a 100% waterproof tile application.
- The effects of water and/or moisture damage to tile applications that are not 100% waterproof.
- The proper installation methods associated with Cement Coated XPS substrates, and how these methods offer a 100% waterproof application.
